Illusory Syrian Peace Process and Ceasefire |

| Assad genuinely wants diplomatic conflict resolution -
unattainable without legitimate peace partners. Ones most important don’t
exist. Ceasefire is more myth than reality. Endless war rages. Washington and its rogue allies pursue it, recruiting more terrorists, US special forces on the ground supporting them, pouring huge amounts of weapons and munitions into Syria, largely through Turkey’s border. Syrian chief peace talks negotiator Bashar al-Jaafari denounced Western-backed terrorism, recruiting, training and arming jihadists, sending them to Syria - “encourag(ing) (them) to stay…and not return” home. If Western nations “wanted to stop the terrorists striking Syria and Iraq, they would have forbidden the(ir) flow” from their countries and others, he explained. He denounced toxic Saudi influence, saying its regime wants Syria destroyed. So do America, Israel and their other rogue allies. He put on a brave face, saying peace talks can continue despite US/Saudi backed delegates walking out. Other opposition groups want dialogue continued, he maintains. His delegation observed strict discipline and commitment to peaceful conflict resolution, he stressed. His government’s “mandate…stops at reaching the point of forming an expanded unity government,” he explained. Going further “contradict(s)” Security Council Res. 2254 - calling for ceasefire and diplomatic conflict resolution, not regime change. Assad supports the creation of an expanded national unity government, including current officials, opposition members, independent figures, technocrats and others - excluding members of terrorist groups. Washington and its rogue allies reject peaceful conflict resolution while claiming otherwise. They want regime change, Syria transformed into another pro-Western vassal state, its sovereignty destroyed. Imported terrorists are Western and regionally sponsored, sabotaging peace, operating under new names, according to Sergey Lavrov. Nothing ahead suggests any prospect for diplomatic conflict resolution any time soon. War may continue for years. It won’t end as long as Washington demands regime change.
