Look at the statistics from when aspartame was approved.  Aspartame makes you crave carbohydrates so you gain weight.  Here is the quote from the congressional record  which recorded the protest of the National Soft Drink Assn, now American Beverage.

"Aspartame has been demonstrated to inhibit the carbohydrate-induced synthesis of the neurotransmitter serotonin (Wurtman affidavit). Serotonin blunts the sensation of craving carbohydrates and this is part of the body's feedback system that helps limit consumption of carbohydrate to appropriate levels. Its inhibition by aspartame could lead to the anomalous result of a diet product causing increased consumption of carbohydrates." Senate, S - 5511, May 7, l985   This is Dr. Richard Wurtman of MIT who fought like a tiger against aspartame during the Senate hearings but today he will no longer talk to the press.

My neighbor built the Augusta aspartame factory which is now closed.  He told me even though FDA told them not to market aspartame because they had found out about the dangerous  studies, they were selling it anyway.  It was originally approved in 1974. but legally approved through the political chicanery of Don Rumsfeld in 1981.    He said it was poison and caused him to be very sick.  With this in mind read the statistics on obesity below from 1975.   Aspartame has caused a global epidemic of obesity.

Dr. Sandra Cabot, Mission Possible Australia, said in an article titled "Aspartame Makes You Fatter":

"After having been consulted by thousands of overweight people suffering with problems concerning the liver and/or metabolism I can assure you that aspartame will not help you in any way, indeed it will help you to gain unwanted weight. This has been my experience, and there are logical reasons to explain the fattening and bloating effects of aspartame. When you ingest the toxic chemical aspartame it is absorbed from the intestines and passes immediately to the LIVER where it is taken inside the liver via the liver filter. The liver then breaks down or metabolizes aspartame to its toxic components - phenylalanine, aspartic acid and methanol. This process requires a lot of energy from the liver which means there will be less energy remaining in the liver cells. This means the liver cells will have less energy for fat burning and metabolism, which will result in fat storing. Excess fat may build up inside the liver cells causing "fatty liver" and when this starts to occur it is extremely difficult to lose weight. In my vast experience any time that you overload the liver you will increase the tendency to gain weight easily.

"Aspartame also causes weight gain by other mechanisms ---Causes unstable blood sugar levels, which increases the appetite and causes cravings for sweets/sugar. Thus it is particularly toxic for those with diabetes or epilepsy. Causes fluid retention giving the body a puffy and bloated appearance. This makes people look fatter than they are and increases cellulite"

There are now 6 class actions having to do with "diet" foods with aspartame actually making you gain weight.  We've known it for a long time and the biggest study was done on the consumer public. All countries should stop the import of aspartame.

On October 11 the prestigious medical journal The Lancet published a study led by the Imperial College of London and the World Health Organization (OM S) very alarming: they related the weight and height of about 130 million individuals, among five and 19 years, with the body mass index (BMI). It was shown that the number of obese children in the world population multiplied by 10 in the last 40 years, going from 11 million in 1975 to 124 million in 2016. More moving is the projected calculation to 2022 where it is said that the population of minors with obesity will overtake the malnourished.

Another striking figure is related to poor countries, where children have moved quickly from being underweight to being overweight. This change could be a consequence of the greater consumption of processed, cheap, high-calorie foodstuffs; that fatten and affect the state of health throughout life.

In Colombia, one in six children is overweight and one in two adults suffers from excess. Cauca is the third department with the highest rates of obesity.

Some examples of ultra-processed compounds are: everything promoted in packages or packaging. Fried, salty or sweet products. Ice creams, chocolates and candies. Sweetened cereals, jams, jellies, margarines. Gaseous and energizing drinks, artificial juices. Dairy sweetened milk formulas for infants, complementary milk preparations. Also the food ready to heat. Although they are often presented as nutritious and healthy, they really are not.

Says Majid Ezzati, one of the main authors of the work: "There is a generation of fat children with a higher risk of chronic diseases. We need healthy and nutritious food at home and at school, regulations and taxes to protect children from unhealthy food. "

The presence of young adults with complications due to fat and sedentary lifestyle is increased: diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol increase, circulatory obstruction and heart attacks. In addition: cancer, fatty liver, respiratory disorders, bone, decay, school bullying and depression.

On average, the boys receive 7,500 commercials a year, inciting the consumption of harmful food, warns the UN. Having television and internet in the bedroom and dedicating more than two hours a day, increases the number of calories and BMI.

In view of the situation, WHO asks parents for discipline and education in the promotion of harmful snacks for children. To the State, to establish norms to control the deceitful publicity and the tax with the consumption of them. Simultaneously we must persist in the healthy life culture: avoid sweets and junk food. In your replacement, drink water, natural juices and skim milk. Increase fruits, vegetables and vegetables in the diet. No tobacco or alcohol. Promote physical exercise. Detect the presence of sweeteners in the brands: corn syrup, glucose, dextrose, fructose, sucrose, molasses, or synthetic saccharin type, aspartame, advantame, sucralose.

As of October 11, a bill was passed in Congress with three main objectives: to regulate the commercialization (manufacture, import, sale) of these harmful preparations. Establish the correct way to present information about the ingredients and additives they contain and create a sanctioning regime for those who break these rules. There is a tenacious struggle against the powerful manufacturers of soft drinks and processed products, who mount campaigns and tricks to circumvent the regulation and stay in the market, at the expense of the deterioration in the health of Colombians, as if with Law 100 it was not
