Kerry Signals More Illegal

| Sanctions on Russia and Syria were illegally imposed without Security
Council authorization - rogue state actions initiated by Washington. John Kerry indicated more are coming - achieving nothing but blackening the names of countries supporting them, along with inflicting pain and suffering on beleaguered Syrians, victims of US imperial viciousness. Commenting on possible imposition of new sanctions, Vladimir Putin said their “goal…is not in solving anything but to contain Russia’s strengthening as a full-fledged participant of international activity.” “This goal won’t be achieved. Sanctions on Russia are illegal, “counterproductive, harmful and never achieve” goals sought by countries imposing them. On October 17, EU foreign ministers from all 28 member countries are meeting in Luxembourg - conflict in Syria and Russia’s involvement to be discussed. Reports indicate Britain, France and Germany intend pushing for new sanctions on both countries - Boris Johnson calling it “vital” to keep up “pressure,” Kerry agreeing. A draft statement, prepared in advance of Monday’s meeting, condemned the “catastrophic escalation” of conflict in eastern Aleppo, irresponsibly blaming Syrian and Russian forces for US crimes together with its rogue allies and terrorist foot soldiers. Proposed actions must be agreed on by all 28 EU governments - whether possible remains to be seen. Washington and its imperial allies are increasingly on the back foot in Syria. Russian and government forces continue effectively hammering US-backed terrorists, inflicting heavy losses, regaining lost territory, heading toward winning the crucial battle for Aleppo. US and EU sanctions won’t change things. Nor will political ranting or suppressing hard truths about a made in the USA war of aggression against a sovereign independent country threatening no others.
