Nikki Haley’s Security Council Temper Tantrum

Reportedly she’s slated to replace Rex Tillerson at State if he and Trump come to a parting of the ways as expected.

Her reckless belligerent rhetoric sounds like Samantha Powers on steroids. She’s militantly anti-Russia, anti-Iran, anti-North Korea, anti-world peace and stability.

During an emergency September 4 Security Council session on North Korea, she barely stopped short of urging war.

Her distorted version of Pyongyang’s nuclear history continued longstanding US hostility toward its government since the late 1940s.

She irresponsibly blamed its leadership for the breakdown of six-party talks in 2009, along with earlier ones collapsing in 2002. Unacceptable US demands doomed them.

Pyongyang is dubious about dealing with an untrustworthy country again - based on past experience. Washington doesn’t negotiate. It demands and reneges on what’s agreed on.

If US policymakers respected its sovereign independence, if they ended an uneasy armistice since the 1950s, if they negotiated in good faith, if they favored diplomacy over warmaking, bilateral relations would be normal.

North Korea would have no need for nuclear and ballistic missile weapons. The peninsula would have peace and stability instead of possible nuclear war, a doomsday regional scenario if enough nukes are detonated.

Keenly aware of its own history and America’s rage for endless wars, its nuclear and ballistic missile programs were launched as deterrents against another devastating war on the peninsula.

Haley: “Despite our efforts over the past 24 years, the North Korean nuclear program is more advanced and more dangerous than ever.”

Fact: Because of deplorable US actions, Pyongyang needs these weapons for self-defense, not offense like America’s imperial agenda.

Haley: “(E)nough is enough.”

Fact: Indeed! The ball is in Washington’s court, not Pyongyang’s.

Haley: “We have taken an incremental approach, and despite the best of intentions, it has not worked.”

Fact: America’s so-called “best of intentions” include raping and destroying countries, massacring their people, supporting ISIS and other terrorist groups, as well as threatening other nations with repeating the horrors on them.

Haley: “The time for half measures in the Security Council is over…We must now adopt the strongest possible measures.”

Fact: Russia and China repeatedly urged diplomacy Washington rejects. They won’t tolerate isolating North Korea irresponsibly - nor accept US aggression on the country.

Haley: “(B)eing a nuclear power is not about using those terrible weapons to threaten others. Nuclear powers understand their responsibilities. Kim Jong-Un shows no such understanding.”

Fact: North Korea threatens no one. America threatens everyone.

Haley: Kim’s abusive use of missiles, and his nuclear threats show that he is begging for war. War is never something the United States wants. We don’t want it now. But our country’s patience is not unlimited. We will defend our allies and our territory.”

Fact: War is America’s favored imperial strategy. In its entire history, North Korea never attacked another country. It threatens none now. Everyone is threatened by US war on humanity. No one anywhere is safe.

Russia and China sensibly urged a double freeze - North Korea suspending its nuclear and ballistic programs with America, South Korea and Japan halting their provocative military exercises, rehearsing for war on the DPRK.

Haley called the idea “insulting,” a typical neocon response. She urged “the strongest sanctions,” ludicrously calling them problem solving “through diplomacy,” belligerently adding:

“The United States will look at every country that does business with North Korea as a country that is giving aid to their reckless and dangerous nuclear intentions.”

Extreme US hostility towards the DPRK, its disdain for diplomacy, and rage for war to assert its will are a dangerously combustible combination risking unthinkable nuclear war on the peninsula.
