Reactions To Trump's Disgraceful UN Rant

Only likeminded rogues would tolerate his hate-filled rant, contemptuous of everything righteous, an embarrassment for anyone to deliver.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif tweeted: “Trump’s ignorant hate speech belongs in medieval times - not the 21st Century UN - unworthy of a reply. Fake empathy for Iranians fools no one.”

His “shameless and ignorant remarks, in which he ignored Iran’s fight against terrorism, display his lack of knowledge and unawareness.”

Zarif blasted US support for tyrannical regimes like Israel and Saudi Arabia.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro responded to Trump’s rant, saying “(n)obody threatens (his country) and nobody owns (it). Donald Trump today threatened the president of the Bolivarian Republican of Venezuela with death.”

Maduro blasted what he justifiably called “aggression from the new Hitler of international politics” - a rogue menace to world peace, stability and security.

Separately, Maduro called illegal US sanctions an attempt to “asphyxiate” Venezuela’s economy, pushing to default on its debt, wanting its democratic government toppled.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza stressed his country won’t accept “threats from President Trump or whomever in this world,” adding:

“We are a people of peace, a peaceful people. And what we want is relations of mutual respect not only with the United States but with all the countries all over the world.”

“We are quite surprised by the words of the president of the United States this morning. This is supposed to be the house and the headquarters of peace and the international law.”

“And what we heard was the opposite of that. It’s a president who comes for the first time and speaks about war about destroying countries about blockades against countries.”

“And of course the country that violates the human rights all over the world seems to have the moral authority to come and speak to the rest of the countries as they were his employees.”

Trump sounded like a madman, threatening North Korea with “total destruction.” In response, the DPRK issued the following statement, saying:

“The US cooked up another ‘sanctions resolution’ at the United Nations Security Council as part of its unprecedented military threat and sanctions and blockade to stifle the DPRK.”

“The US describes the DPRK’s nuclear deterrence for self-defense as the ‘biggest threat to peace,’ but it is no more than a shameful logic and a brigandish deed to justify its crimes against peace on the Korean Peninsula.”

“The DPRK has had access to everything and gained everything it could do despite the harshest sanctions and blockade by the hostile forces, and it is a daydream to calculate that the DPRK can be shaken to change its attitude in face of the new ‘sanctions.’ “

“The enemies’ reckless and ridiculous sanctions, pressure, threat and blackmail will offer an opportunity to the DPRK to bolster up its deterrence, while bring bitterer disgrace to them.”

“The DPRK, which towered as the most powerful nuclear weapons state despite the unprecedented difficulties and trials, is not afraid of any sanctions, pressure and war. It is now in full readiness to destroy the enemies’ bases with its resolute and preemptive strike if they show any slight sign of provocation.”

“In case the US opts for confrontation and war at last, defying the strategic position of the DPRK, nuclear power of Juche and a world military giant, it will meet horrible nuclear strike and miserable and final ruin.”

South Korea and Japan were noticeably silent, issuing no response to Trump’s address, refraining from criticism, expressing no support for his bombast.

China and Russia warned about heightening tensions more than already. Beijing decried his calling Kim Jong-un “rocket man,” disgracefully insulting him, threatening his country with mass destruction instead of responsibly calling for resolving differences peacefully.

A cartoon in China’s Global Times, captioned “Bully pulpit,” showed Trump holding a megaphone shouting “America first.”

The China Daily broadsheet called his address “full of (unhelpful) sound and fury.”

Shanghai-based Tongii University Korean Peninsula Research Center director Cui Zhiying said “(w)ar is an unimaginable option, and it should not be an option at all. It would hurt all parties, everyone on the peninsula and in the Northeast Asia region.”

Russian Senator Konstantin Kosachyov called Trump’s speech “disappointing,” especially his “extremely dangerous statements about the readiness to ‘totally destroy North Korea’ and exit the Iran deal as ‘one of the worst for the US and an embarrassment.’ Plus (his unacceptable hostility toward) Syria, Cuba and Venezuela.”

Broken clocks are right twice daily. The deplorable New York Times stepped out of character, getting something right, a rare exception to the rule, saying the UN “isn’t (a) venue (for) threatening war. Yet that’s what President Trump did in his first address to the General Assembly.”

“In all this fury, before a world body whose main purpose is the peaceful resolution of disputes, there was hardly a hint of compromise or interest in negotiations.”

At the same time, The Times failed to explain America’s rage for endless wars of aggression - ones it supports every time waged.

The neocon/CIA-connected Washington Post deplorably said “there were reassuring moments Tuesday in (Trump’s) first address to the UN General Assembly.” There were none, a beginning-to-end disgraceful tirade.

Trump is a rogue leader, a menace to world peace and freedom-loving people everywhere. Humanity holds its breath, fearing the worst to come.
