Russia Transports Its Expelled Diplomats Home Safely

By Patricia Doyle

On New Year’s day, a special plane dispatched by Vladimir Putin arrived at Dulles international airport near Washington.

Russian embassy spokesman Nikolai Lakhonin said it departed hours later for Moscow, 96 Russian nationals aboard, including 35 diplomats and family members.

On Monday, Tass said “(t)he plane of the Russian government’s Rossiya Special Flight Detachment, carrying Russian diplomats who were declared persona non grata in the United States, landed in Moscow early on Monday.”

Obama expelled 35 Russian diplomats, part of irresponsible Russia bashing throughout much of his tenure. His vengeful act followed fabricated accusations of Russian US election hacking.

His order disgracefully claimed targeted Russian diplomats acted in a “manner inconsistent with their diplomatic status.”

His action was perhaps one among other planned parting shots at Moscow and Vladimir Putin before leaving office.

Russia’s president responded with grace and civility, polar opposite his rogue counterpart, refusing to punish US diplomats in a similar manner.

Instead he sent yearend greetings to Obama, Trump and the American people. He invited children of US diplomats to the Kremlin for holiday festivities, along with Russian children of expelled diplomats.

Trump congratulated Putin while indirectly rebuking Obama, tweeting: “Great move on delay (by V. Putin) - I always knew he was very smart.”

Throughout his tenure, Obama disgraced his high office. His departure will sadden no one aware of his appalling record.
