Senate Passes Deplorable Budget Bill

Class war rages in America, escalated under Trump and congressional Republicans, most hardline.

Thursday Senate budget bill passage provided more clear evidence of America’s deplorable state, sinking deeper into the abyss than earlier.

Americans for Tax Fairness spokesman TJ Helmstetter said the following about Thursday’s vote:

“51 Republican Senators just voted to cut Medicaid by $1 trillion and Medicare by $500 billion so that millionaires and corporations can get a tax cut. It’s immoral and despicable.”

Republican Rand Paul voted against the measure. So did all 48 undemocratic Dems.

Most supported Obama’s war on social justice throughout his tenure, disgraceful neoliberal harshness, thirdworldizing the country, making America resemble Guatemala.

Trump and congressional Republicans aim to create a new dark age, one deplorable piece of legislation at a time, everything for Wall Street, other corporate favorites and high-net-worth households, stealing from the poor and ordinary Americans to enrich them.

That’s the deplorable state of things today, steadily worsening, including trillions of dollars spent for militarism and warmaking - instead of for essential homeland needs gone begging.

Following Thursday’s vote, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said it “clears the way for committees to continue their critical work to spur steady economic growth while providing legislative tools to advance tax reform, the single most important action we can take today to help our economy reach its full potential.”

Tax cuts for the rich make them richer. They do nothing to stimulate growth and create jobs. The GOP scam is all about transferring maximum wealth from ordinary Americans to super-rich ones.

Claims otherwise are bald-faced lies.Trump lied tweeting: “Great news…first step toward delivering MASSIVE tax cuts for the American people” - privileged ones only he failed to explain.

In early October, House members passed their version of FY 2018 budget legislation. Unlike the Senate measure, it opposes increasing the deficit.

Reconciliation between the two measures will follow. Majority support only is needed for passage, not a 60% super-majority, Trump certain to sign anything enriching the super-rich and big business more than already.

Darkness enshrouded Capitol Hill on Thursday, many more dark days likely ahead.
