Neocon Senator Considers
RT A Foreign Agent

By Stephen Lendman

Russophobia in America is rampant. A CNN propaganda documentary shamelessly lied, saying Vladimir Putin governs “unconstrained by other institutions, parties and political forces.”

Russian democracy is real, America’s is fake. Each wing of its one-party extremist rule takes turns assuming power. Elections are farcical when held. Voters have no say whatever.

CNN claiming Putin “is not foolish enough to make a frontal assault on America and Europe” despicably maligns a world-class peacemaker.

If all nations were governed like Russia, endless imperial wars wouldn’t be waged. Countries would cooperate with each other, benefitting everyone. The world would be safe from possible nuclear annihilation.

America vilifies Russia, China, and other sovereign independent countries for standing in the way of its quest for unchallenged global dominance, imperial wars waged to achieve it, potential nuclear confrontation a major threat to humanity.

Washington bashes anything connected to Russia, including its media, notably RT for giving viewers real news, information and analysis, polar opposite Western media rubbish.

Neocon Senator Jeanne Shaheen wants RT America investigated for potentially violating the Foreign Agents Registration Act, saying:

“We have good reason to believe that RT News is coordinating with the Russian government to spread misinformation and undermine our democratic process.”

“The American public has a right to know if this is the case. RT News has made public statements boasting that it can dodge our laws with shell corporations, and it’s time for the Department of Justice to investigate.”

“My bill provides the authority needed to request documentation of RT News and find out who they’re accountable to.”

Fact: RT is accountable to truth-telling, to its viewers. It’s a news and information broadcaster, not a foreign agent. It doesn’t dodge US laws, or those of any other country.

Fact: Investigating it, if authorized, may ultimately aim for shutting down its US operation, followed by RT International - online and on cable channels.

Shaheen introduced the Senate Foreign Agents Registration Modernization and Enforcement Act. If passed by both houses and enacted into law, the Justice Department could conduct endless harassing, witch-hunt investigations into RT’s legitimate operations.

It’s state-funded. So are the BBC,  CBC, France 24, Germany’s Deutsche Welle, and America’s Public Broadcasting and National Public Radio - besides its global broadcasting through the Voice of America, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Radio Free Asia, Radio and TV Marti, and Middle East Broadcasting Networks (Radio Sawa and Alhurra Television).

Global US-funded propaganda broadcasts in 59 languages, reaching millions worldwide via radio, television, the Internet and other media.

America’s Broadcasting Board of Governors says its principles are “consistent with the broad foreign policy objectives of the United States, and the capability to provide a surge capacity to support United States foreign policy objectives during crises abroad.”

Followers of my writing need no explanation of America’s “foreign policy objectives.” Nor is their ambiguity about who’s responsible for “crises abroad.”

RT’s editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan blasted Shaheen, saying, maybe lunatics infesting Washington will “start shooting our journalists…Greetings to Senator McCarthy from Senator Shaheen.”
