Trump Senior Advisor Stephen Miller

By Stephen Lendman
2-16-17

Last December, a Trump transition team press release announced his appointment “to serve as Assistant to the President and Senior Advisor to the President for Policy.”

Trump was quoted saying he’ll “fulfill a crucial role in my administration.” In January 2016, Miller joined his campaign after serving as press secretary for House members Michele Bachmann and John Shadegg, as well as communications director for Senator Jeff Sessions, now Trump’s attorney general.

He was president of Duke University’s chapter of right-wing/pro-Israeli extremist David Horowitz’s Students for Academic Freedom. He wrote conservative articles for the school newspaper.

He accused poet Maya Angelou of “racial paranoia,” describing the Chicano Student Movement of Aztlan student organization as a “radical national Hispanic group that believes in racial superiority.”

He has ties to white supremacist Richard Spencer, videotaped after Trump’s election, chanting “Hail Trump! Hail our people! Hail victory!” His supporters were seen giving Nazi-style salutes.

Spencer and Miller jointly worked on an immigration debate, sponsored by the Duke Conservative Union. Miller denied it, calling the claim “100% false.”

Email exchanges indicated otherwise. Separately, Spencer said he knew Miller “very well…at Duke.” He wanted it kept quiet so as not to harm Trump.

He denies being neo-Nazi, calling his ideology “white Zionism.” Miller and White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon drafted Trump’s immigration ban, affecting seven Muslim countries - a political act, mostly affecting countries Washington raped and destroyed, unrelated to protecting the country’s borders and national security.

Miller has ties to right-wing settler rabbi Ben Packer, living on stolen Palestinian East Jerusalem land. Earlier, he mocked the cold-blooded murder of human rights activist Rachel Corrie by an Israeli bulldozer driver as she heroically tried preventing the demolition of a Palestinian home.

On a visit to Israel, Packer served as Miller’s tour guide through East Jerusalem and parts of the West Bank - saying at the time, Miller “is not just my friend. He’s not just our friend. He is us.”

“He is part of that new proud generation, no longer relegated to the fringe. His appointment is spectacular news for the Jewish people and he should be blessed with everything to do great things.”

Miller wrote Trump’s acceptance speech at last year’s Republican National Convention. Last August, he was named head of Trump’s economic policy team. In November, he became a transition team member.

In December, he was appointed Senior Advisor to the President for Policy, serving in this capacity along with Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.

On last Sunday morning’s talk shows, Miller blasted the judicial rejection of Trump’s travel ban, the order he co-wrote.

He accused the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals of “having a long history of overreaching,” arrogantly calling the three-judge panel’s ruling “a judicial usurpation of power.”

Comments like these discredit himself. White House interests aren’t served by judicial bashing.
